how to configure email account in android? OBLIVION / CONFUSED ...? Don't worry .. here we go.. easy it is

THERE ARE FOUR OR FIVE STEPS INVOLVED IN CONFIGURING THE EMAIL ACCOUNT ADDRESS IN YOUR PHONE / MOBILE / TABLET / DESKTOP / LAPTOP / PALMTOP / ON ANY GADGET’s

Create a new email account in Android phone
Note: Not all phones have same email configuration settings, it may change according to the phone/mobile manufacturer and the settings in it
v  Enter your full "Email Address"
v  Enter the password for your "Email Address"
v  Tap "Next"
v  Choose the type of email account you will be using.
Ø  POP3: POP3 will download the emails from the server and store them on your phone.
Ø  IMAP: IMAP will store the emails on the server and show a cached copy on your phone.
Ø  Exchange: Exchange is not supported as it requires a Microsoft Exchange server

Incoming Server Settings in Android phone
Note: Few settings may differ in each mobile you use because of the manufacturer constraints
v  Username: Please enter your full email address
v  Password: The password for your email address.
v  IMAP server: This is typically your domain name preceded by "mail.". This can be found in the E-mail Accounts section of the cPanel, under"More" > "Configure Mail Client" .
v  Port:
Ø  Non Secure (No SSL): 143
Ø  Secure (SSL): 993
v  Note: Using "SSL (Accept all certificates) will be more compatible.
v  IMAP path prefix: Please enter INBOX. This will allow for you to store your Sent, Drafts and Deleted emails on the server.
·         Tap Next.

Outgoing Server Settings in Android phone
Note: TSL / SSL and AUTHENDICATIONS need to be On/Off depending on mobile models and the type of account you configure POP / IMAP etc
v  SMTP server: This is typically your domain name preceded by "mail.". This can be found in the E-mail Accounts section of the cPanel, under"More" > "Configure Mail Client" .
v  Port:
Ø  Non Secure (No SSL): 25 or 26
Ø  Secure (SSL): 465
v  Note: Using "SSL (Accept all certificates) will be more compatible.
v  Require sign-in Check this as you will need to authenticate with the SMTP server.
v  Username: Please enter your full email address
v  Password: The password for your email address.
v  Tap Next.

Account Options in Android phone
Note: It is your wish to set these settings according to your convenience (Notify/Sync/downloading) etc
v  Email Checking Frequency: Set how often you would like your device to check for new emails.
v  Note: The more often you check your email the more drain it will cause on your battery.
v  Send email from thise account by default Check this option if this will be your default email address
v  Notify me when email arrives: Leave this checked if you would like to be notified of new email messages.
v  Tap Next.

Name the account
Note: Naming can be your Email address or your name according to the fields it indicates on your phone/mobile
v  If you would like you can name the email account, this can be helpful if you have multiple accounts on the one device.
v  Enter the name you would like to be shown on all outgoing emails that you send from the device.
v  Tap Done / Finish. (to conclude)

Why we need to configure our email account manually in phone or outlook similar etc?

Generally when we enter the account details in the phone email applications, it will automatically detects the settings from such email account service providers, However, in few cases the settings may not work due the phone configuration or settings of app or phone or restrictions from few email account providers, or of we doing a small mistake while we type / copy the details.

To configure the Internet email account manually, follow these steps in the Add New Account dialog box:
  1. Click the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.
  1. Click Internet Email, and then click Next.
  1. Under User Information , configure the following settings....
  2. click on this Email incoming and outgoing server settings

  3. To configure the new e-mail account manually, follow these steps in the Add New E-mail Account dialog box:
    1. Click to select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.
    2. Click Internet Email, and then click Next.
    3. Under User Information, follow these steps..............
    4. click on this Email incoming and outgoing server settings

    5. To configure the Internet email account manually, follow these steps in the Add New Account dialog box:
      1. Click the Manual setup or additional server types check box, and then click Next.
      2. Click POP or IMAP, and then click Next.
      3. Under User Information , configure the following settings....

Configuring your email client: Outlook 2003
  1. Open Outlook 2003.
  2. Click the 'Tools' menu, and select 'E-mail Accounts...'
  3. Select 'Add a new e-mail account,' and click 'Next.'
  4. Choose 'POP3' as your server type by clicking the radio button, and click 'Next....

BELL SOUTH (CORPORATE ACCOUNTS)

Note that If you have trouble sending mail with these settings, your wireless service provider may be blocking port 25. Try using the Google Mail outgoing mail server settings instead.


BELL SOUTH (RESIDENTIAL ACCOUNTS)

Note that when entering your username for incoming and outgoing mail server settings, do not include @bellsouth.net as part of your username.
